That's a good thing. I tried to run updates in yumex and kpackage. Nothing showed up. Still, upgrading to Fedora 12 and finding another way to shutdown the computer was the right decision.
Does this update fix the fast user switching problem? That problem is that you can't use multiple users without logging out. If you try to use switch user, it just locks the screen and you have to re-enter your password. This just puts you back to where you were before.
