Unusual Error Message

I have recently installed F12 and am getting an odd error to do with my Northbridge.
Code:
Message from syslogd@xxx at Mar 26 20:27:01 ...
kernel: Northbridge Error, node 0, core: -1

Message from syslogd@xxx at Mar 26 20:27:01 ...
 kernel:K8 ECC error.
Having run motherboard diagnostics I don't think that there is a problem... any suggestions as to why I might be getting the message (or what the implications are)?

Thanks,

Michael

Hello,

My guess would be that ECC was turned on in the BIOS settings and you don't have ECC capable memory, but that's just a guess.

Re: Unusual Error Message

Actually you probably have a point (sort of) - probably a memory chip giving up the ghost. I do have ECC capable memory - my system board requires it. I may try reseating the DIMMs and see what happens... hopefully the ECC will pick up anything major rather than doing damage. Then it is another memory replacement! Only updated it about a year and a half ago... And I will almost certainly have to change all of the DIMMs to get them to match.

Thanks,

Michael

Re: Unusual Error Message

Hello,
Oh, I didn't read your sig. and see your setup.
You might give it a memory test "if possible" from a live cd or such and see if you get any errors.

Re: Unusual Error Message

I'll give the memory test a shot - thanks.
