Fedora 10 Randomly not allowing connections
Hello,
I have fedora 10 installed for use as an office server. On random occasions, the server stops accepting incoming connections. This includes SSH, FTP, and Samba. It seems to be fairly random, and to make things even more bizarre, if someone taps the keyboard on the machine, then the connections can be made again. We tried leaving someone logged in to the machine too see if that made a difference, but no such luck.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Fedora 10 Randomly not allowing connections
Hello SlowFamily:
And welcome to the Forum.
You are of course welcome to ask questions regarding F10, however, since F10 is past end-of-life: moved to "EOL" section.
Good Luck,
V

Re: Fedora 10 Randomly not allowing connections
Hello,
Maybe some type of Hibernate setup or I have seen NetManger cause problems like that

Re: Fedora 10 Randomly not allowing connections
I checked in Power Management and it is set to never go to sleep. How would the Network Manager be affecting this?

Re: Fedora 10 Randomly not allowing connections
I do not use Network Manager I was having a problem with my network was not starting without logging into the GUI.
I use network. Starts network during bootup
# chkconfig --list |grep etwo
NetworkManager 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:off 4:off 5:off 6:off
network 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:on 4:off 5:on 6:off
may want to try switching

Re: Fedora 10 Randomly not allowing connections
I actually do not use Network Manager either. Disabled it due to the issues it has with setting static IPs. Here's what I have:
NetworkManager 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:off 4:off 5:off 6:off
network 0:off 1:off 2:on 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off

Re: Fedora 10 Randomly not allowing connections
Scott32746,
Thanks for yet another response. I don't know if I understand exactly what you mean. The server is set to have a static IP, and I don't know how an IP issue would just sprout up periodically to affect it like how it's behaving.

Re: Fedora 10 Randomly not allowing connections
My thinking is a different server / PC has the same IPAddress your ssh/ftp could be hitting it. But I just reread your first post about hitting the keyboard to make it work again... hmm
Check BIOS and see if Hibernate setup there.
