Firstly sorry if this is in the wrong area of the forum, it could of fitted in may different areas, mods please move in necessary.
im very new to linux so this is why i'm using the GUI & why im going to post as much information i can to help you assit me
i will give you a background
OS: Fedora 12 (downloaded yesterday) with all software updates - Love IT!
Samba Version GUI Version: Samba Configuration Tool 1.2.89
Samba Server: 3.4.2 47 .fc12
WorkGroup: SMUGNETWORK
Computer Name : SMUGBOX
Linux Firewall - Disabled (for now)
AIM: to share 1TB drive so Fedora acts as a File Server for Music/Video
Drive Setup:
OS: Samsung F3 500GB (Fedora whole drive)
DATADRIVE: Samsung F3 1TB
990GB - STORAGE partition - NTFS - set to read/write in samba
10GB - Backup - NTFS set to read/write in samba.
Problems i'm having:
1) I can connect to the SMUGBOX from OSX using my smb://IP & my User/PW that i login into Fedora with. i can see all the areas (Storage,Backup,SMUGBOX) but i can not write to the Folders or even see files that are on there (which i put on from linux.
when i try to write to any of the areas i get:
"You can not read Items you do not have permission" (OSX)
i done some reading an found a bug with OSX Which was fixed by adding
Unix Extensions = no
which i've added yet still cannot read the drives.
On a Reboot i noticed An Alert saying SELinux blocked attempt to access Home/Storage/Backup)
im no expert to linux but i guess this could be the problem, but i don't know how to fix it could you please tell me how?
Problem Number 2
Windows can access the Box but will not access any of the Drives (saying the drives are spelt wrong.)
i guess its related to SELinux also.
Problem 3:
I tried using FAT32 because at the moment im unsure how to enable write permissions for NTFS on OSX across the network. when using FAT32. OSX wouldn't even let me inside STORAGE...
I hope you can help.
