I'm trying to get the latest version of eee-control (0.9.6) to install on my eeepc 901, but have been unable to figure it out. I installed git and tried to just run the python setup script but that error'd out claiming I needed to have gcc installed (it was) and trying to convert the deb with alien failed also complaining about "Arch dependent binaries in noarch package". I know that Quasar8000 has a version based on the hacked package of the previous releases before the guy who wrote the utility disappeared for awhile, but that doesn't work very well (no automatic powersavings switching) and the package is for Fedora 12, not version 13.
Does anyone know how I can get this to work for me? I've been very impressed by the light at the end of the tunnel Fedora 13 provides after the miserable failure Ubuntu Lucid has been for me and this is one of the biggest sticking points preventing me from upgrading to Fedora from Ubuntu Hardy.
