Re: Alienarena7_40 instalation problems

The easiest way would be to to the following (as root user) - alienarena-7.32 is in the Fedora 12 repos:
Code:
yum install alienarena
This will also install any other utilities/software required to run the game and add it to the menus.

OK - that's a fair point! What sort of file have you downloaded - .tar, .tar.gz, .zip?

With most archives, you can use "less <archive name>" to get a list of the contents. Perhaps if you post a pageful of the output it will help us see what you've got and so how to deal with it.

Re: Alienarena7_40 instalation problems

so i had a zip file that I unzipped and then I got a folder with alienarena in it and some other stuff. When you go into the alienarena folder there is crx file and another file, I think that one of those is useful because of what i have read but I am not sure on how to sue them

Re: Alienarena7_40 instalation problems

If you are using a file browser, double-clicking on the "crx" file should launch the game. If this doesn't work, then you should open a terminal, "cd" to your "alienarena" folder and then run the command "./crx". If that still does not work, you should at least get some messages telling you what is failing so we can fix those.

Re: Alienarena7_40 instalation problems

I got a faster internet connection and did the yum install, i would still like to know how to do it based off the torrented file but that is not the main concern any more. When I start the game as soon as I move the direction I am pointing my gun it makes me look at the celing. I am using a mouse pad at the moment so that may be the problem. If i turn off the mouse pad then I can walk around but as soon as I try to change where I look then I am looking at the celing again.

Re: Alienarena7_40 instalation problems

Have a look at the file /usr/share/doc/alienarena-7.32/README.txt - that may have some hints on configuring and playing the game.
