Possible to bypass kdewallet for specific applications?

Is it possible to bypass kdewallet manager for certain applications while leaving it in place for others? Specifically, I do not want to be prompted to open the wallet when I login and initially access the wireless network, but still require opening of the wallet to check email.

Thanks.

About halfway down they start talking about *just* what you're looking for.

Re: Possible to bypass kdewallet for specific applications?

Hey Elias, thanks very much for the link. It does seem to describe a way for me to accomplish what I want, but it's also got me thinking about whether or not this is a safe thing to do; I need to do a bit more reading before proceeding...

My pleasure. I guess we both kind of lucked out because I was looking for a way to disable Kwallet for Amarok and found both threads around the same time.
What app are you trying to disable it for?
If it's Amarok I think you could just uncheck LastFM in your preferences and that would stop it from popping up.

Thanks for the tip. I hate the fact that KDE wallet pops up in Gnome when running Amarok. Worked for me.

I want to disable kwallet for login to my wireless network at home as it gets very tedious having to reopen the wallet each time the system hibernates. Yesterday I was worried about the wireless password being stored in plaintext format if I used a passwordless wallet, but reading through a number of posts on this leads me to believe that the passwords themselves are still saved in an encrypted form. I'm experimenting to verify this right now.

Assuming passwords are still encrypted inside a passwordless wallet, it would seem that creating one just to hold my wireless password would be a viable solution. However, I have not figured out how to access multiple wallets other than resetting the default within kwalletmanager each time I need to change to another one. Even cut-and-paste between wallets doesn't seem to work; the passwords exist in the new wallet, but launching the application only sees the wallet set as the default.

Still working on this one...

Re: Possible to bypass kdewallet for specific applications?

Hi I am new to Linux Fedora and KDE but I love it. I came here looking for an answer to being able to modify a specific program handled by the KDE Wallet. I also came here to find out why I can't open the KDE Wallet Manager, when I click on it nothing happens is this supposed to happen? I thought that I would be able to open the manager and view settings and perhaps change them.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

Same problem with kwalletmanager

I just wish all this **** would get out of my face

I did the bit about deleting the kwl file but it still asks for pw for 'localwallet' , which of course no longer exists, so it fails ,

This is one big PITA

Seriously not impressed with Fedora.

If anyone knows how to fix this . Prefeably totally get rid of this wallet jive altogether. Please post.
