DDS 4 tape compress mode problem

Dear all,

How to set the DDS 4 tape to compress mode that can store in 40 GB data?
My data is in gzip mode and the size is around 30GB.
Is it i have to configure some settings before i proceed?

To turn compression on try something like:

sudo mt -f /dev/st0 compression on

but given that DDS4 is 20GB uncompressed and 40GB compressed then if you already are getting 30GB onto it you already have compression turned on (40GB is theoretical... 30GB sounds right for hardware compression combined with gzip).
