I've had this problem with my laptop for since I can remember, and was hoping it would go away by it's self, but I just upgraded to F13 and it's still happening, so I assume it's not a bug, but something on my system that is causing it.
It's the most annoying problem.. ever!
At random times my display seems to 'freeze' - as in, the screen is not updating, but the actual display is still changing.. hard to explain, easier to give an example:
If I have a webpage open in Firefox when it happens, everything looks normal. When I scroll the mousewheel (to move the page up and down), I can see the mouse cursor changing as the page behind is moving over different objects (text cursor when over a textbox, pointer when over a link etc), so I know that the page is actually scrolling, but the screen is NOT showing the page scrolling, it just stays exactly the same.
Minimizing / restoring any program, or switching to another desktop and back fixes it. It seems to happen fairly often, but I can't see anything obvious that could be causing it.
It's easy enough to work around (minimize / restore) but when it happens 10 times per hour, it starts to get very very annoying.
Never had the problem when playing videos, full screen, only on the desktop. Temperature of the CPU and Graphics card are normal.
If anyone has an idea what could be the cause, I would much appreciate it.
