Unable to install webcam (Ricoh R5U870)

Hi,

Does any one have any idea about how to install built-in Ricoh webcam drivers in fedora 13?
I have Ricoh R5U870 driver which was working for fedora 10 but I am not able to use them in fedora 13.
I thought webcam issue should be solved for fedora in this release.

my note book is Sony VAIO SZ430n and exact driver which I am using is attached and I can confirm that it was working if you follow all steps in read me file on version 10.

kind regards,
Mani

Re: Unable to install webcam (Ricoh R5U870)

Do you have the just released package "r5u87x-firmware" installed? On Fedora 13 that should be all you need. I've installed it here and running rpm -qiv r5u87x-firmware
on it shows:

Re: Unable to install webcam (Ricoh R5U870)

Dear everyone,

I get this webcam installed but it gives a very laggy and distorted picture on skype. Been trying to solve this madly, but so far no luck. I am running the r5u87x firmware and loader:

Code:
#sudo r5u87x-loader
r5u87x firmware loader v0.2

Searching for device...
Found camera: 05ca:183a
Camera reports positive microcode state.
Camera reports microcode version 0x0111.
Not doing anything - camera already setup.

Successfully uploaded firmware to device 05ca:183a!
Code:
#sudo lsusb -d 05ca:183a
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 05ca:183a Ricoh Co., Ltd Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC7 [R5U870]

The output looks like this:

Maybe the cause is here???
Code:
#uvcdynctrl -f
