luks rejects my password

I couldnt find any relevant threads so I created a new one

I am at my wits end. All of a sudden my encryption password is being rejected. It has worked before and it is written down. I even tried loading a LiveCD hoping maybe an update screwed it up but even in the LiveCD the password isnt working.

This wouldnt be such a big deal if I havent changed all my passwords and stored them in KeePass and havent got a chance to back it up yet.

What do I do?

Re: luks rejects my password

=More Information=

Machine A has Fedora 13 32bit installed and was using a 64 character password with lower, caps, numbers, and the following special characters(without quotes):".!~*"

Machine B I just installed Fedora 14 64bit and I used the exact same password and the exact same behaviour surfaced. I reinstalled using a 22 character password with none of the special characters from the previous password and it worked fine.

Either this seems to be a bug or luks has some limitations I havent found yet.

Re: luks rejects my password

Hello,
If you have a problem with special characters, that probably means that the keyboard layout is different from the one you used when you initialised the password (This case happened to me).
You can specify the keyboard layout in grub, on the kernel line: add 'KEYTABLE=uk' to use a uk layout for instance.

Re: luks rejects my password

That makes sense however on both computers I selected the US Layout which I think is the same as the live CD and I even tried installing it with one password and once I booted up I changed it to the 64 character password and got the same results. Unless somehow the layout is different during bootup...
