service command

Can someone please tell how to fix the service command

When I type 'service httpd start' I get
service command not found
then it comes up says:

Install package 'initscripts' to provide command 'service'? [N/y

When I type yes, it says

The transaction failed: all-packages-already-installed, The packages are already all installed


Now I am lost. Can anyone help please

You are trying to run that as root? You need to load the root environment by using the dash - on the su command

su -
service httpd start

Fedora has a new feature where if a command seems to be missing it tries to get it, but in this case service really is installed, the problem is that you need to have /sbin on the path (the "-" on the su makes sure the root path is loaded).
