fonts in update

Every time I download updates, I get dozens of fonts I cannot possibly use since neither I nor anybody else can read all of those languages. I am sure that nobody at fedora can read each and every one of those languages either. Then I have to pick through the software to remove them. To say that this is dumb is an understatement.

Since the main language of the disribution is quite obvious, why not add fonts to the update that pertain to the language of the disribution. If people need other fonts, they are easy to get.

Re: fonts in update

Agreed. But telling other users definitely won't accomplish anything, telling the devs probably won't either but you can always try.

See http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Bugs_and_feature_requests

Personally, I tend to uncheck/uninstall so much crap on a default install that it wouldn't make much difference anyway...

Re: fonts in update

I don't get that many non-english fonts when I do an install unless I customize the install and add them manually.

Have you tried to list the fonts you have installed and removing the ones you don't use? While some may have been installed as a dependency for some application, there are probably some that can be removed without breaking any dependencies.
