Mediatomb + WMP12

Hi,
i have just installed Mediatomb and configured like here:
http://motersho.com/blog/index.php/2...-a-samsung-tv/
I also have installed mysql-server, created database etc
My Win7 can see mediatomb server but WMP12 do not see any media files. I checked in mysql and there are records with media files...

any ideas?

Re: Mediatomb + WMP12

Which versions of Fedora and MT? Is your catalogue correctly categorized in the MT's UI?

Re: Mediatomb + WMP12

Also check that the /etc/init.d/mediatomb script enables multicast (I don't have access to my F15 desktop right now)

From the README file:

4.1. Network Setup

Some systems require a special setup on the network interface.
If MediaTomb exits with UPnP Error -117, or if it does not
respond to M-SEARCH requests from the renderer (i.e. MediaTomb
is running, but your renderer device does not show it) you
should try the following settings (the lines below assume that
MediaTomb is running on a Linux machine, on network interface
eth1):
# route add -net 239.0.0.0 netmask 255.0.0.0 eth1
# ifconfig eth1 allmulti

You'll have to amend the network interface on F15 of course...

Re: Mediatomb + WMP12

i had checked.
Code:
[root@echo ~]# nano /etc/init.d/mediatomb
(...)
    # those settings are necessary for us to react to M-SEARCH requests
    route add -net 239.0.0.0 netmask 255.0.0.0 $MT_INTERFACE >/dev/null 2>&1
    ifconfig $MT_INTERFACE allmulti

(...)
still nothing...

Re: Mediatomb + WMP12

I was reading the instructions on that link you posted and, although they are for F12, they don't seem really applicable to Fedora, as they instruct to run MT as root, which is not the case if you installed the package from yum. In fact, the configuration file is in /etc/mediatomb, not in /root/.mediatomb, and mediatomb is run under the mediatomb user for security reasons (that means that you'll have to modify permissions so that the mediatomb user can read your media directories)

Re: Mediatomb + WMP12

yeah, I figured it out. I managed to configure it succefully. The prove is that my DLNA device is called like in my config.xml.
I checked also on my sisters Samsung TV, and... it even doesn't see my mediatomb server. ... weirdo

Re: Mediatomb + WMP12

Indeed... You've also modified the MIME type of some test files, as described at step 7 of your link, I presume...

Re: Mediatomb + WMP12

Yes... SELinux or something? I have added '50500' and '49152' ports to firewall exceptions...

OK, SOLVED!
http://mediatomb.cc/dokuwiki/faq:faq It says:
Quote:
make sure that your firewall is not blocking the server, port 1900 has to be open as well as the port on which the server is running (i.e. web UI port), both TCP and UDP

Re: Mediatomb + WMP12

Well, I presumed that -since your windoze 7 machine was getting through- the problem was not the firewall... glad you sorted that out, though
