LXDE background confusion
Heyas
I kinda have 2 diffrent wallpapers at the same time.
1) is the standard wallpaper
Then i start lxterminal and i see wallpaper1 underlayed it.
2) Then , run my script by "sea ui rndpic 1" to set a new wallpaper with:
PHP Code:
/usr/bin/gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-uri "file://$rndimg"
That way i get wallpaper 2, only to be seen as underlayer of lxterminal (or gnome-terminal).
I have made the 'taskbar' as transparent, it shows the 2) wallpaper as well.
Question:
How may i change LXde's wallpaper with a commandline similar to the above command?

Re: LXDE background confusion
I am not sure about LXDE, but my guess would be that it does not use gsettings (although I could be wrong on that).
Personally I use nitrogen to set background images.

Re: LXDE background confusion
Well, gsettings does change the background, even if its only to be viewed as underlayer of terminals.
Thats what made my confusion.
Just reloged again, its still the default.png wallpaper, but the LXDE panel shows the background of gsettings wallpaper which is a diffrent one
And the change with gsettings works, for the terminals..
Nitrogen, thanks bodhi, i'll have a look.

Hmm weird.
Nitrogen doesnt change anything at all, allthough it said: currently set background
Besides, if i use nitrogen, or the "change wallpaper" option of lxde, are quite the same steps.
Nitrogen doesnt even change the background of terminals.
Might that be because i use the "f15 dvd install" and did just "yum groupinstall lxde" and changed the DE @ login screen?
EDIT:
reloged again, diffrent wallpaper now.
But NOT the one i set via nitrogen.

Re: LXDE background confusion
Ok... next / same issue.
Even when change wallpaper with the rightclick "settings of desktop", on next boot up i get the default.png as wallpaper.
Even when i set it to no wallpaper at all.
Allthough its a nice wallpaper, i'd prefer my own ones.
Anyone facing something similar?
Sidequestion: How to make screenshots in LXDE? my Laptops FN+End(prtsc) doesnt work anymore Its still working on Gnome though)

There's a GNOME program called "Take Screenshot". Otherwise, if you have GIMP installed, go to File -> Create -> Screenshot..., then save the file as you like.

Re: LXDE background confusion
Ok, finaly i was able to take a screenshot
This way you get an impression of what my issue is, and it really starts to annoy me.
Screenshot:
http://sea.hostingsociety.com/lxde-1.jpg
Before the screenshot i changed the background image with "rightclick -> change desktop settings" to "earth_from_space.jpg".
The next time i boot up, or wake up from suspend, it'll be default.png again
The most frustrating is: it wasnt a live cd, it was the fedora dvd installation.

Hmm ... I recall seeing that as a bug in an old openSUSE-11.3 LXDE version which was subsequently fixed. I wonder if this bug has been re-introduced again ?
In the case of 'openSUSE' the fix came with an update, which updated libfm, libfm-debuginfo, libfm-debugsource, libfm-devel, libfm-doc, libfm-gtk0, libfm-gtk0-debuginfo, libfm0, libfm0-debuginfo, lxde-common, lxde-common-branding-openSUSE, lxde-common-branding-upstream, pcmanfm, pcmanfm-debuginfo, pcmanfm-debugsource, pcmanfm-lang and then required me to remove ~/.config/pcmanfm/pcmanfm.conf , restart and all was fine.
Unfortunately, I can't say which package contained the fix. Sorry. Look for some Fedora LXDE updates.
I don't have Fedora LXDE installed, so I can't say if this is something similar nor different.

Re: LXDE background confusion
Fedora doesnt seem to have any updates to lxde.
At least the updates say that my system is up to date

Note if worst comes to worst, one can always make a screen shot using gimp.
