Help me understand this kernel bug fix yum message...

What is happening here with this bug fix? I've installed fc15 and wish to test this bug fix for HFS+ mounting troubles.

Did I do something wrong? The comment's instructions were for fc16, and when I received the notification of the fc15 fix, I simply entered that kernel patch name.

Code:
# yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing kernel-2.6.40.3-0.fc15
...
No Match for argument: kernel-2.6.40.3-0.fc15
No package kernel-2.6.40.3-0.fc15 available.
No Packages marked for Update
Since it didn't work, is this fix not yet available to yum?

Re: Help me understand this kernel bug fix yum message...

What makes you think such a kernel package is available in the standard repositories?

Try: yum --enablerepo=updates-testing list kernel

If that package is not available in the repositories yet, you can visit the Fedora Updates System ticket,
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/upda....6.40.3-0.fc15
and verify the state of the update. At the time of writing this reply, it is still pending with target testing, which means it is waiting to be pushed into the updates-testing repository.

Meanwhile you can follow the link to the Fedora Build System and download the package manually from there.

How silly of me to not get the option I used and quoted in my post, "--enablerepo=updates-testing", is not a standard repository!

updates-testing is a standard repo

And the kernel is now in there. It just hadn't been pushed into the updates-testing repo when you ran that.

Run it again, and you should be able to get your kernel

really all you need is this:

Code:
yum --enablerepo=updates-testing update kernel
