FC3:Speed Touch USB HELP

hello, i can't put the usb modem to work.
i'm new bie is the first time i try to work with linux.
my problem is that the modem is detected by linux it show on the USB devices list.
but when i use the ADSL configure wizard it ask for a ethernet card and only show my network card(3 Com on eth0) and do not show the modem.
So i can't select the modem to connect to net.
How can i put the modem to work?
Tanks for any help.
I try many how to but i cant put any to work.
Sorry for my bad english i'm from portugal.
