Try

yum install kernel-headers kernel-devel

Then try to install vmware. Post new errors if any.

Hi,

I have been installed kernel-headers and hernel-devel. It's has an error "Kernel headers for version 2.6.38-26.rc1.fc15.x89_64 were not found. If you installed them in a non-default path you can specify the path below...." when I open the VMware workstation 8.

Ooops. Sorry about that. I should have read closer.

I really don't know how to make vmware work on the current kernel. But you could try going back to the older kernel. If it is already installed you would just need to select it at the start of the booting process.

If you don't have the -devel or -headers then just type

yum install kernel-headers-2.6.38-26.rc1.fc15.x86_64

Or go to a mirror and grab the headers and devel and use rpm -ivh (name of package) after you have downloaded them.

Re: 2.640-4.fc16.x86_64 Fedora Core 15 won't compile vmware workstation 8 modules

Just installed VMware 8.0 on Fedora Core 15 with kernel 2.6.42. Compilation was complaining about missing headers for 2.6.38 but these were already installed. I found kernel-devel-2.6.38 was missing. Thanks for the clue about needing both. What was puzzling was that my running kernel is 2.6.42 and VMware complains about 2.6.38- does anyone know why?
