I really don't know how to make vmware work on the current kernel. But you could try going back to the older kernel. If it is already installed you would just need to select it at the start of the booting process.
If you don't have the -devel or -headers then just type
yum install kernel-headers-2.6.38-26.rc1.fc15.x86_64
Or go to a mirror and grab the headers and devel and use rpm -ivh (name of package) after you have downloaded them.
