How to Authenticate to the Network Proxy ( to the Central Proxy / not for yum)

Hi everyone

I installed Fedora 15 last week. It's been a while since I used Linux and now I live on campus where we use LAN to connect to the internet. We use an http proxy with authentication (username & password).
I tried putting the proxy in the Network Proxy settings after going to the Network Settings window. However, it never asked for an authentication and all programs that use the internet can't connect, except for Firefox because it asks for authentication.

Yum worked because a lot of people ask about it so I found a solution easily (editing yum.conf).

I tried putting username : password@proxy (just like in yum.conf ) inside the proxy fields from the Network Settings but it didn't work.

There must be a file somewhere that can be edited just like in yum.conf, but I don't know where.
Is there a way to do it?

Thanks in advance,
