F16 printer not detected audio not detected
Just installed F16 with yum update.
However, all printers, including network printer and local USB printer, disappeared, 'Sorry! The system printing service doesn't seem to be available'.
No audio device was detected, and no sound.

Just in case others are also looking for solution, for the printer, manually start cups; for the audio, manually add user to the audio group, http://forums.fedoraforum.org/archiv.../t-271426.html

Re: F16 printer not detected audio not detected
I experienced a similar problem updating from F15 to F16. My audio is OK but my printer settings disappeared. CUPS remained installed but only print option I have now is Print to File. Wondering if anyone else has experienced the problem or if there is a fix.

Re: F16 printer not detected audio not detected
I'm having the same problem with my printer... installed the drivers for an HP 6500 attached to the computer... I tried adding users and rebooting, but printing doesn't happen. I don't get an error, though.

There are some updates including a CUPS update... I am going to try to download those today to see if that fixes the problem. (11/13/2011)

Re: F16 printer not detected audio not detected
I have a similar problem with a different printer - HP F380.
I do fresh installations, not upgrades. In F14 both the printer and scanner worked. In F15 only the printer, and now in F15, neither printer nor scanner.
I have had no audio problems.
Later: My printer problem is solved.
After installing my HP Deskjet F380, system-config-printer shows it up in the Printing - localhost application as both "Deskjet-F300-series" and as "HP Deskjet-f-300".
Using the "Deskjet-F300-series" as default works for both printing and scanning. Using the "HP Deskjet-f-300" does not work for either printing or scanning.

Re: F16 printer not detected audio not detected
I have two HP printers, one attached via USB and a network printer. After upgrading to Fedora 16 neither printer was recognized. CUPS insists that no printers are available. I reinstalled Fedora 16 from scratch, to no avail. This is not the way to run a distribution.

Are you sure it is CUPS that is telling you no printer can be found? It may not be running. Check system-config-printer. If it tells you the print service is not running, try the solution posted by dayeliu above (start CUPS manually). It worked for me. Once I had started CUPS from the command line I found I could get it to start on boot again.
If CUPS is running, check this thread: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=272561 which refers specifically to HP printers.
