Preupgrade fails (F15 -> F16)

When I run the preupgrade I get slapped with this error message every time while downloading installer images.

Failed to download installer data.

This could be caused by a missing network connection or a bad mirror.
My 'net connection is fine. I've retried numerous times and continue to get this error. Console output while running preupgrade..

Not enough space in /boot/upgrade to download initrd.img.
That last line seems familiar, but I believe that is not an issue as the image can be downloaded during the reboot so long as you have a LAN connection (correct?)

Any help or suggestions?

Re: Preupgrade fails (F15 -> F16)

Code:
Not enough space in /boot/upgrade to download initrd.img.
Is your /boot 200M?

This might help

Try running preupgrade as root.

Re: Preupgrade fails (F15 -> F16)

Tried running preupgrade as root, didn't seem to change anything.

My boot is

[someuser@somemachine ~]$ df /boot
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 198337 75604 112493 41% /boot

Which, is under that magical limit of 120mb where the installer should prompt you about not having enough space in /boot, but so long as you have a wired LAN connection it could download the image after the reboot (as I've done twice before on multiple machines). However this time the prompt never appears, just gives this error.

After following Method 1 of freeing old kernel space I was able to complete the preupgrade steps. Thanks for that reminder/link.

I still think there's something missing from previous preupgrade experience..
