FC3: Kernel Panic
Hello All,
Fedora Core 3 Update: kernel-2.6.9-1.678_FC3
Our initial test shows kernel panic with this new kernel update.
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
We recommend to postpone kernel update at this time

If you've alreay installed new kernel-2.6.9-1.678_FC3 and you're getting kernel panic, you'll have to do "hard reboot" with power button.
Press any key as soon as it reboots to see grub menu.
Select older safe kernel to boot.
Once you login, you can follow this HOWTO to remove a perticular version of kernel packages with yum in FC3:

UPDATE 2004-11-19
We have tested both kernel-2.6.9-1.681_FC3.i686.rpm and kernel-smp-2.6.9-1.681_FC3.i686.rpm on our FC3 test system
and they both rebooted successfully. We expect these RPMs will be available via yum within 24 hours.
