printer lexmark may not be connected

I use the device uri socket://192.168.178.11:9100 But when I print a testpage I get this warning printer lexmark may not be connected. Is there maybe a service that I have to switch on for the printer ?

Here is a part of the log:

Re: printer lexmark may not be connected

Hi Input,

From my limited experience in the past, Lexmark printers were not very well supported on Linux.

It looks like things may have changed.

Here's a a link to a document from 2008
http://www.lexmark.com/publications/...vers/en/ug.pdf

Here's a blog with some helpful info....
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pag...rk_linux&num=1

Basically you need to go directly to the Lexmark website and get the drivers from there.
The scanner didn't work through XSane on the model they tested.
Given it was written in April 2010 Lexmark may have improved the scanner support in XSane.

Here is a Linux specific search on the Lexmark website.

Cheers,
Bert

Re: printer lexmark may not be connected

Thanks very much for the information.

I use z600cups-1.0-1.i386.rpm and z600llpddk-2.0-1.i386.rpm
It was working before without any problems but i get the printerrors after a new install Fedora 14.

Thanks again.
