resizing partiton sizes

i have fedora 16(verne) installed()dual boot with win 7). i used the erase existing linux partition while installing it.Previously it was fedora 15. But after installing fedora 16 i checked the partition distribution and it said that the root partition is 50Gb!!!. I want to resize the partion to 20 gb. also my disk is encrypted.

I was thinking about gparted but I am not sure if that will work with encrypted partitions. Of course, you need to boot with gparted (if it does work) and resize it.

Also, are you partitions logical volumes?
