Jar shortcut in xfce panel

I am wanting to make BorgCalendar, which is a portable ap, a shortcut in my xfce panel and only get a weird error. I was trying to make it simply start with the pc, which it did before I updated borg, but that doesn't work either and probably for the same reason. I have it set to open with "Java" which works only with clicking hardlinks and the jar itself from within thunar. The link on my desktop opens the java control panel, and the xfce panel shortcut gives a "failed to execute child process BORG.jar permission denied".

There is a "run_borg.sh" file also but it won't work as a shortcut either. i may reboot into xp, run the jar as it's an installer, and then recopy it back to fedora's folder. It did work before.

Sounds like you set file permissions wrong. Executable files have to be set as executable. You can do this with the file manager or with the chmod command.

After booting back into windows and using the exe installer, copying that and rebooting back into fedora, PLUS getting a bunch of updates, it now works as before. Permissions were already set correctly which is why it worked before. Now the panel shortcut works as well as the startup item. I think it may have been due to my updates, I'm not really sure.
