KDE: add submenu to panel

In the application launcher, if I right-click an application folder, I can select "Add to panel".

This adds an application icon to my panel.

I expected a folder icon that can browse my submenu... It used to work for me in the past, but seems not to work anymore.

Does anybody know how to achieve this?

I have: kdebase-4.7.4-2.fc16.x86_64
