So I've just made a new script, which takes the old Core Fonts for the Web project and takes it a step further. Its a bash script that should run independent of the Distro's tools and any package system.
It includes Core Fonts for the Web and the Vista ClearType font collection. Which is required if some smart individual sends you a Documents with Consalas font etc.
Legal status is questionable.
Usage instructions

yum install wget cabextract fontconfig xorg-x11-font-utils
wget http://repo.missingbox.co.nz/repo/linux/msfonts/1.1/msfontinstaller.sh
sh msfontinstaller.sh
Then follow the script instructions.
