Pre-upgrade to F16 issue

Today i've decided to use pre-upgrade to make the move from F15 to F16. The pre-upgrade program finishes downloading it's files fine, and apparently applies correctly. However, upon reboot, choosing "upgrade to F16 (Verne)" in the boot options list, I am immediately met with a black screen and a blinking cursor. It does not seem to respond to any commands.

Things to note:

I do have sufficient room in /boot for pre-upgrade to work, over 200mb.
I am booting two hard disk with Grub as my bootloader, one disk Win7, the other F15.
I have viewed the pre-upgrade wiki page; do not believe im missing anything.
All packages were upgraded before running preupgrade.

Thanks

Re: Pre-upgrade to F16 issue

Have you looked at some of the threads about pre-upgrade problems?

http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=272528

http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=272182

System not booting after preupgrade is seemingly common. See if either of the cases above points to some solution in your case. Cheers.

Re: Pre-upgrade to F16 issue

Correct, it is common. At this point i've been messing with this all day. I've read those particular threads and many others. I'm really looking for some speific help here. But thanks for replying. The vast majority of issues im seeing are users getting errors or the upgrade failing half way through. I'm just getting a black screen with blinking cursor immediately as I mentioned. What might I be missing here?

I'm now upgraded:

Code:
cat /etc/system-release
Fedora release 16 (Verne)
However, it really bugs me I couldn't do it the preupgrade way. I ended up going with the yum method which is what I have always done, usually just removing problem packages on the way.

Now I have the preupgrade listing stuck in my boot.lst. So should I just delete the upgrade listing from /grub/menu.lst and the downloaded files in my home folder? Is there anything else that preupgrade pulled in that I can now get rid of?
