make vim default editor ? low priority

I would like to make vim X11 the default editor instead of gedit

checked the system settings -> default applications
but nothing there, although I could swear there used
to be an option for default editor

I forgot fc17 x86_64

Never mind I found the answer on an Unbuntu forum

in Nautilus right click on any text file and choose Properties

then select the tab Open With
hopefully the alternative editor is in the list, so you can select it.

Re: make vim default editor ? low priority

I think you'd have to do this for each file type, but you can go into "Places" and search for the file (or the file type) to use VIM as default for, then highlight it, right click on it and choose "Open with other application", and choose VIM from the list or click Find more applications, and install VIM, then choose that.
