Evolution issue in F17

Restored my backed-up evolution when I installed F17-64 fro scratch. All seemed well until I tried to send an email, then get message that the smpt server does not support a plain password, and now evolution does not show any emails, contacts, etc.

I hope I have not lost any emails

I will go back to 16 for now Liked 17 otherwise.

Maybe you have to configure evolution to use encrypted passwords? See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMTP_Authentication

Re: Evolution issue in F17

I have been using Evolution with plain password types and my host for some time now (Fedora Core days). I looked for posts with similar issues, nothing of note, so I went back to F16, and my archive file imported as expected. I then re-installed F17...no updates this time. No contacts were to be found, the google account missing, and I could not send mail.. I downloaded the lasted Mint (13 ) and had to install Evolution as it is not included, and the archive restored perfectly, just like F16.

From this limited experiment, I have to say there is an issue with F17 and/or the version of Evolution included.

BTW....Mint 13 with Cinnamon is pretty sweet! Gonna go with this for a time to try it out.

Re: Evolution issue in F17

Having the same issues, and none of the password options work with my mail provider.

Cannot send mail, this is a total showstopper for what looked like a great distro.

Have been using these options with previous fedoras and they still work with an F16 VM.

Can find no mention in bugzilla, surely this is a major problem?

Re: Evolution issue in F17

I just performed a fresh install of F17 after being on F14, I took a backup of my evolution data in F14, and performed a restore of evolution data under F17.

I have none of my folders and there are about half a dozen misnamed folders.

I will try to load the restore up in a VM of < F17 and see what happens, if it works, I will be disappointed.

Ok.

Ran FC16 in a VM with my back up of my evolution data from FC14.

Everything restored as expected, not so much in FC17.

The journey begins.

Re: Evolution issue in F17

The issue is because of the directory structure changes that happened in Evolution 3.X.X.

I basically have to import each 'mbox' folder from my 2.X.X backup into a new folder on 3.X.X. ...... it is very tedious but works.

Here is a some more details/steps:
