IP disappeared

So wow, what a fun week with internet service.

OK, my F16 and F17 woes (wifi - buggy system operation) may have been due to spotty internet service. Long story short, IP for our community went out of business. The IP had exclusive rights to this community, so a little bit of limbo while they resolve who is going to provide internet service through the existing infratructure. With the IP and web disappearing, I scrambled and researched a short term solution that may end up long term.

Trying out Clear. An IP with 4G and no data cap. The speed is a little slower, between 3 and 6 mbps. But it is stable and handling 4 devices web surfing.

And I am happy to be surfing and working with a functioning F17 on my machine. Not sure if it was the kernel linux upgrades, network manager in F16 and F17 or spotty web service... It has been a crazy (and sometimes frustrating) two weeks. All is well, hope it lasts

Re: IP disappeared

I was hoping this was about the concept of Intellectual Property disappearing.
Usually what you're talking about is abbreviated as ISP, for Internet Service Provider.

Sorry about that, ISP was what I was thinking, but IP is what I typed... been a dizzying week

And I would be happy to bring news of IP disappearing, may happen, big business' patent trolling. Maybe IP stalemate, maybe IP oblivion

4G and no data cap.
That sounds appealing!

Up and running for two days now. I had 4 machines pushing and pulling data for a good part of the day, smooth going and stable. Have to see if the network remains constant (maintains 3-6 mbps).

Still early, and this was intended as a short term solution for my Small Office Home Office scene. Waiting for the dust to settle on the ISP territory battle (for our community). But yeah, if this remains stable, might be a long term solution.

The nice part, where ever there is a Clear 4G signal, you just turn the device on, and instant SOHO network. Too, with the Clear device that I have, I am able to implement the same security level I had before with my netgear equipment. So fairly user friendly from the start (home network), but if you want to tinker and harden your network scene, the tools are there.

So far I am impressed with Clear, but need more time and use to see how stable their service is.
