Modifying user login icon?

Hopefully a quick and easy question - is there a way to modify the icon displayed beside usernames at the login screen, as shown below?

I've had a look through the forum, but have only been able to find the suggestion of adding a .face file to my home directory - I've not had any luck with that though (I called the file .face.jpg - would that be correct?), and can't seem to find an option in the OS (where in Gnome 2.6, for instance, you could customise it under 'user options' for instance).

Any suggestions as to what might achieve this? I'm using F16 Xfce.

Re: Modifying user login icon?

Beautiful post!

People, do you see the photo above? Do you remember how it looked like in F14?

Now, installed F17 and this black theme is so dark and poor, so that I'm really want to change it to the previous style blue&white - so beautiful, so nice and pleasant.

Is it possible to change this theme for the login screen?

Thank you for any help.

Re: Modifying user login icon?

Your post does not help because gnome-tweak-tool can not afford to change the login page background (not the desktop one).

Also, on the login page (when I turn on my laptop) there is no picture of me, instead it is shown I log in and click on the top-right corner on my full name.

Maybe I need to edit the Account file, where I added the icon or picture of me path to the image?

Thanks. Have a nice weekend.

Actually it can, if opened with the gdm user. In that thread I didn't use it because I use Xfce but I did it with dconf-editor directly.

For this I can't help as now I use Xfce/LXDM.
