Re: Modify Applications Menu

Well, now this is interesting. The applications that I want to put in a sub-menu are all loaded under wine. I cannot find the .desktop files that are associated with them anywhere.
I'd also like to figure out how to get a "Wine" category under the main Applications menu, then have the structure underneath preserved. So far I've been unable to figure this out either. Alacarte shows the structure preserved that I'd like, however Gnome 3 is throwing everything in to the "Other" category under Applications. It appears that Alacarte is not making changes to the same menu files that Gnome 3 is using. Uggghhh.

Re: Modify Applications Menu

If you had added wine from repository, it should be fedora-wine*.desktop. In a computer that I use which has wine,

Code:
ls *wine*.desktop

fedora-wine.desktop fedora-wine-wineboot.desktop
fedora-wine-notepad.desktop

[ ... ]

Yes, I see those located in /usr/share/applications. But, how do we get the Applications menu in Gnome 3 to put these in their own "Wine" category? Thanks!

Red face Re: Modify Applications Menu

Well, one piece of the puzzle that I just found is the category "name". When I built my new menu entry, I used the category name "Electronics", which is in the registered list.

Now, I just installed gEDA, and it put all the apps in my new menu. Say, what?

Yes, the menu name I chose, PCAD, shows up in the Applications list, and when I click on it, I get the gEDA apps listed. Click on one and it runs.

So, obviously, there is still some piece of this puzzle yet to be found.

Hope this gives some clues to others.

Re: Modify Applications Menu

I have been thru all of the documentation on menus, and after looking at my files, I find that what is available as the specification for menus, does not comport with Gnome 3.

Does anyone know where the new specs can be found?
