Some Issues with FC17

Dear All
I started using Fedora since 2010 and found that of all the opensource & linux distributions, it is the best one.
I now is not a newbie, but still there are many-things beyond my capability.
In FC17, my issues are:

a) Wine: I am not able to install & use any video conveter & any audio converter. I could not find a fedora alternate for this. Hand Brake is not as easy as AVC or AAC.

b) Murasu Anjal - Tamil Mailer - I could not find such an application in Fedora. SCIM is confusing and I am not able to type in Tamil.

c) Virtual Box - OSE: After update, it is not working well. It throws me error after error. The recent error is it is not able to write the image and some VMM0.ro is not getting loaded.

From FC15, this is huge issue for me as I lose my VMs after Kernel Upgrades.

d) Virt-Manager: I thought OK let us use Fedora's Virt-Manager. I saw the wiki document and did all it said, however the error that KVM is not loaded is not resolved.

Yours
VN

Re: Some Issues with FC17

Try to be more specific regarding the audio/video conversion. You could use VLC as a conversion tool or similar apps in a terminal.

Your best option is to get to grips with Handbrake or some other native video converter, as you're far less likely to hit issues. If you must use a Windows program with Wine, you should post more information about what you're installing, how, and what fails. I'm afraid I don't know about the other issues you mention.

(Trainee CM hat on): When you have multiple quite separate problems, it's better to post them in separate threads with more descriptive titles, as this will better catch the attention of those who may know the answers, and lead to a less confusing thread for yourself or anyone else to read later! I'd suggest keeping this one to video conversion now, and posting separately for virtualization and a Tamil mailer.
