Re: Grub 2 beta 4 to beta 6

grub2 doesn't automatically update the bootloader installed on your system.

The grub2 packages get updated, but the actual bootloader requires you to manually update it.

Running F17, if your system is updated, then you have the grub2 beta 6 packages installed, so all you would need to do is a grub2-install to install the bootloader.

Do you remember where you installed the bootloader when you installed Fedora?

Example:

grub2-install /dev/sda

Would install the bootloader to the boot sector of the first hard drive.

Re: Grub 2 beta 4 to beta 6

Actually I install with netinstall.iso which is current. Today I installed F17 Kde but I did not see a netinstall option for Kde so I used a live cd, Which when installed is using beta 4. This is why I asked.

Btw thanks for your help it is always appreciated.

Re: Grub 2 beta 4 to beta 6

your first yum update, you should get the beta 6 version of grub2 (it's in the repo, but the install media used the beta 4 version)

After you do your yum update to get grub2 updated, then you need to run the grub2-install since yum won't update the installed bootloader automatically.
