Hp scanner doesn´t work under fedora core 3

I have a HP all-in-one model, everything works exept the scanner. Its connected with usb, and the model is a PSC 2400 series.

I have fedora core 3 installed, including the hpoj-driver. Xsane is still not able to detect it.

If anybody can help me, thanks..

On this website is your printer listed:
http://hpoj.sourceforge.net/suplist.shtml

On that website you'll directed to this hp linux project:
http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/

You can download the driver here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...group_id=16846

While you are running your system, unplug your scanner, and after a few seconds, plug it back in. Then, go to a terminal and type:
Code:
sane-find-scanner
. I hope it will at least detect something...

You need to do the setup for hpoj. Run 'ptal-init setup' as root and that will walk you through a couple of questions (very easy), and then once that's done, you will be able to scan. I'd remove libsane-hpoj first though since it might conflict. I used kooka to scan, works very nicely.

Kooka didn't find device

Hi taylor,

Just wondering if you could help me out

i have the hp1310 all-in-one on my FC3.

I did 'ptal-init setup' and configured it

I then ran 'ptal-init start' and it is running.

But when i ran kooka, i could not select a scan device?

Any ideas?

Thanks
Zubin

you don't need to run ptal-init start - just make sure that hpoj is checked in System Settings -> Server Settings -> Services. As long as hpoj is running and ptal-init setup found the scanner, the system should be able to see it. when running kooka, it should just have the scan buttons available.

I have a HP-K80xi usb all-in-one that worked flawlessly under MDK 10.1.
Now that I am involved in FC3 the printer won't talk to me anymore.
I saw that I'm supposed to use the hpoj driver for usb and I downloaded it and supposedly executed setup correctly.
HPOJ still does not show up in the print queue configuration menu. All that's there is an hpijs and a gimp driver, no hpoj. I have read every message board and tutorial I could find for 2 days.
I completely updated FC3 on 8 April using YUM.
Is there a procedure I need to follow to get this puppy working? I'm clueless so far.

Thanks anybody!

11 April-Got some further update on the driver issue.
CSCHENG advised me that he had done some research and found that the correct driver is- HPLIP not HPOJ as was contained in other documentation. CSCHENG gave me a SourceForge link that had the driver & download/install info.
Did all that and ran into a further glitch. You are directed to a web link to complete the install. I got into the link (HP) and was not permitted access. So, the driver is downloaded and in the system but still does not show up in the printer queue configuration screens. The driver, as recommended in the Fedora printer config screens HJIS I believe is not going to work with a USB hookup.

If anyone has had any luck using this printer w/FC 3 would you kindly let me know- I am at the point where I go to EBAY just to get a parallel printer that would work.
Thanks!
