Unhappy Problems with Fedora 2 instalation...

I am trying to install Fedora 2 on my computer. When the very first screen you see apears, (Fedora 2 logo takes up half the page) I press enter just like it says. after I do this, It says, "Loading: umlinux" and "Loading initrd.img......................................." and then it restarts my computer. It keeps going in this perpetual loop and I can't stop it! Please help. anybody!

P.S. I tried it on another computer, and it worked just fine. So it has to be a problem with the computer. Please Help!

Can you give us some specs on your machine? Also, is this a partitioned drive or are you installing FC2 on a clean HD?

Yes. My computer is curently running red hat linux 9, and used to run windows me. The drive is partitioned, as I just mentioned, with Red hat and me partitions. I have no clue how this information might help, but I am open to any help you can give me.

Try using the text based installation mode - that solved it for me...

Sorry for my inscruitable comments earlier - what I was trying to get at was to see if you were running with at least 192 meg of ram for 'X' and if your monitor is properly configured since the logo is wacked - always a possiblility that if your refresh rate was off, the machine might be shutting down to avoid damage.

My machine uses RH9 in text mode just fine. It shouldn't hang over when trying to load the instalation program. This doesn't look like a problem with the refresh rate. it will load the RH7.2 instalation program just fine, so has anything changed in the begining instalation program since then? please post back with a reply.

P.S. By the way, my computers processor is a Syrix3 550mhz, If that helps.

Please close this Topic. I have found out my answer. apparently, it was my processor. FC2 doesn't seem to work on it. They say it's some type of bug. anyway, I am now installing FC3 and it is working just fine.
