Unhappy Problem with my monitor (was working)

Well call me an idiot....

I decided to try another monitor driver instead of using the generic 1280X1024 @ 60hz (which works btw).

So now when it tries to use telinit 5 (load X) it says the hz are out of range. So I just want to set it back to 1280X1024 @ 60hz (which i know works fine).

I put the first install CD back in and boot up the : linux rescue command , and got to the shell no problem with my image mounted at: /mnt/sysimage/

I would like to know what files i need to change to get my configuration back to normal. I know there is a *.conf.backup file I could use to overwrite the previous one but i cannot remember the name!!

So anyways, could someone let me know what files I need to edit so i can get my old monitor settings back

Thanks in advance,

Well the config file /etc/X11/ named either XF86.conf or xorg.conf

--why is my still named XF86.conf, even though i'm using Xorg?
