Yum stopped working

Ive been using yum for the past few days with no problems. Now whenever i run yum to list available or install a package nothing happens the cursor in the console just blinks and nothing happens. Ive tried to reinstall it and im not having much luck...not sure if im doing it right. Any other ideas what could be happening. Im completely stuck.

Try to clean out the cache -- yum clean all

Then try to updating. It would be that the servers are responding very, very slowly.

Anyway in the /var/logs/yum file?

ive tried yum clean all but it still hangs immediately. I assume that means the problem has nothing to do with the servers. What commands should i use to reinstall yum. Ive also replaced the yum.conf with one i know works and no luck.

Hang in there - we're all down tonite (apt and yum). Wait until tomorrow at least before making any changes.
