Well at least you lot basically share the same culture and speak virtually the same language. (Remembers a very funny conversation with a yank about a boot.)

We also have a lot of American servicemen round here. With RAF Mildenhall and Lakenheath not so far away, Lakenheath had the Stealth Bombers which were used in Iraq. We would see and hear them leave the base, add 8 hours and turn on the news to see Baghdad being pummeled. It was weird, like we knew when things where gonna happen but only non specifically.

lol, thats awesome. I do know what boot is though, one of my friends lived in England till he was in like 6th grade, he had a accent for like the first 2 years. I still cant decide which one i like better, his Brit accent or my other friends Aussie.

Southern American accents grate on me a bit, especially that Texas "twang" (waves at Bana and Tux).

You have a problem with Scottish? ROFL, I'm half-geordie (From Newcastle area in the far north east of England) by blood - you'd have a lot of fun cracking that one.

prolly, the people with a really strong scottish accent is the kind i have problems with. Maybe it was just cause the guy was a friend of my grandpas and was half drunk when i was talking to him. Maybe thats why i couldnt understand him. I can get all other english dialects ok, just scottish is the kicker sometime.

Hehehe... I had a MGB after I got out of the navy, and quickly learned the difference between boot and bonnet.

Of course GBShaw was correct... We are a people sepererated by a common language.

I like the irish accent, I can't understand a word, but I like the sound of it. I really like how old irish men seem to be able to move their lower lip 70% more than other human beeings too. And irish breakfast.
