How to config a 'desktop view button' in Gnome

Hi.

I want to place a button in Gnome to access directly to my Desktop, similar to the one in MS Windows.

Is it possible? Thx

right-click panel en choose 'Add to panel...' and pick 'show desktop' from the list. Also FC3 and FC4 have this by default. It the little icon on your top bar (unless you moved that) where all running aps are displayed.

The icon(s) that define the show-desktop function depend on the icon theme you're using. Supposing it's bluecurve (default) it is the following (depending on the dispay size.
/usr/share/icons/Bluecurve/48x48/apps/gnome-show-desktop.png
/usr/share/icons/Bluecurve/24x24/apps/gnome-show-desktop.png
/usr/share/icons/Bluecurve/32x32/apps/gnome-show-desktop.png
/usr/share/icons/Bluecurve/36x36/apps/gnome-show-desktop.png

the filename could also be gnome-ccdesktop.png

try substituting these with the png of your choice.

You can find out what book a person needs by asking the question, "Do you want to be a Muggle or a Wizard?"

(1) If they answer "Wizard", then you give them RUTE.
(2) If they answer "Muggle", then you give them "Linux for Dummies."
(3) If they answer "What's a Muggle?", then you give them "Harry Potter".
