Thunderbird, importing messages

I've put my Mozilla email from an old FC2 pc onto a cd. How can I get Thunderbird on FC3 to import these messages? It's tools-import menu seems doofus; it offers no options to browse for files. Do I have to copy the file into the Thunderbird application directory somewhere?

Yes, you can just drop the mozilla mailbox files into your thinderbird profile's Mail directory in ~/.thunderbird/YOURPROFILE/MAIL. Just make sure you copy the .msf files as well as the files without extensions, and rename the mozilla files if they match any of the standard mail folders. I had to do this recently and it worked OK after a little fiddling as I was copying across mail folders with the same names as the fefaults and even though I deleted the defaults and replaced them with my own copies containing the backedup mail, Thunderbird kept renamed them and recreated the default folders. So a little fiddling may be required.
