Why is this post http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?p=230364#post230364

Why is this post http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/sho...364#post230364 closed?

I thought that this was a community based effort?
Quote: Greatscot I consider fedoraforum to be a necessity to anyone running Fedora Core. I have learned so much from the good folks here.. it amazes me. When I help a Windows user switch to Linux (currently on # 44), I always give them what I call a "help kit", which is a set of files and apps on a CD that I have put together to assist them on their journey, and FedoraForum is listed in the Vital Bookmarks files for Konqueror, Mozilla and Firefox.

I think this forum is awesome and I wouldn't want to have to live without it. Kudos to the admins, moderators and managers. Thanks for being here.

sorry image at the bottom attachment. Still learning?

And why aren’t we following the guidelines? http://www.fedoraforum.org/?view=guide
If you or I don’t have anything to add then don’t post. We are all here because we have a great community and want to learn, every post helps somebody. Getting upset at one another does not help anybody. Why are we worried about a reputation that is putt on by someone who thought it was a good Idea? It’s been debated to death http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27320. We are all smather than the average bear that why we are here posting and reading them. We all had personal attacks myself included. Look at imdeemvp he sticks it out because he’s always here to learn and help. So stick it out we all can make it great. Just ignore the one’s that are here for just conversation and attention they will sort themselves out in the end.

as i told everone before, if you got problem with other members, deal with them on private messages, no need to disturb the community by wasting posting space.

i agree with you, those who post for attention shouldnt be here at all. we are here to help and being help. that's all to it.

What ewdi said.....

Praise publically,

criticize privately......

That's only common sense.....

Engwnbie, I closed the thread because I felt that we were picking someone other than Bill Gates apart. It was my decision, no one had talked to me about it and no one else was involved. You and Ewdi have explained my thoughts far better than I could, so 'nuff said.

Disturbing trend

From time to time, I've noticed folks posting disrespectful, impertinent, and irrelevant remarks to posts which were seeking or giving advice or help or information. So, I have started this thread, in spite of the fact that this topic has been discussed at length many times.
We have all come here for a common cause; learn more about open-source, Linux, and specifically Fedora Core.
We have come to share our knowlege, experience, problems, and answers, be they vast and varied or mimimal and narrow.
I first posted on this forum about 9 months ago, a Windows convert, medium strength computer user, and a linux fledgeling. Since beginning this journey, I have learned an incredible amount.... mostly from the advice given freely and willingly by fellow users of this forum. The more I learn, the more I see there is yet to learn.
Sure, it is sometimes annoying to see posts which are seeking more than just advice, but someone to magically fix their problem without the necessary effort on their parts. If I feel that I can make a useful suggestion, I post a reply. If I feel that I can't be of any help, or I don't feel inclined to get involved for whatever reason, I simply move on..... don't reply.
This is nothing more than common courtesy. Treat each other with the same dignity and respect that we expect for ourselves.
On this forum, there aren't any ethnicities, religions, colors, ages, genders, or any other identifying traits. Merely individuals sharing common goals and interests. And that is what has made this forum one of my favorite sites, and the FIRST site I visit if I have a technical problem.
For the most part, we have all tried to follow these basic courtesies. It is the less frequent occasion that, when I see it increasing, people failing to show dignity and respect, that has prompted me to make this post.
Forgive me if I have seemed to pontificate, here. I just felt I had to say something.
Thanks for your time and attention.
