Looking for "Snag It" equivalent for Fedora

Snag It is a quick and easy screen/region capture utility for Windows, and I'm looking for an equally quick and easy screen/region capture utility I can use with Fedora Core 3.

If anybody knows of one, please respond.

Hit the Print Screen key. Also try it with Alt.

That'll work if that's what I have to do, but I'm looking for something that will capture a fixed region of the screen and save it as a JPEG with an automatic file name.

ksnapshot will do exactly that. Try it out. Run ksnapshot and take a look at your choices in the Capture Mode drop down box. The below snapshot was taken with ksnapshot in "Region" mode. As you can see, it is a snapshot of just the edit box for this forum. There's also a Help button at the bottom of the ksnapshot window.

As for the .jpeg part, if you're running KDE, you can right-click on almost any image file in Konqueror, and choose Actions -> Convert To -> jpeg, png, gif, tiff... or you could open the image in The GIMP and save as .jpeg. Each time you save a screenshot, ksnapshot will increment the filename (screenshot1, screenshot2, etc.) for you before saving.

All of this can be done with apps that are included on the FC3 install disks.
