Need Thread Tool to mark thread Solved

Other forums, notably, http://forum.techguy.org , have a Thread tool to mark the thread Solved by the original author or moderator/administrator when a resolution is found.

This would be a good aid to all users of this forum when looking for soultions to their problems as it shows up on the thread topic list at the top of each forum category as Solved!

My $0.02 worth,

-- Tom

Been there. Done That. System Failed Miserably.

Many users who ask questions, never follow up on the thread. So its very hard to determine whether or not the thread is "solved" so to speak. On top of that the sheer volume of the threads makes it difficult for all of the staff to evaluate each and every thread. Plus most users, don't bother marking the thread "solved".

IMO the one who created a thread, can edit the title afterwards.. so they could add a SOLVED tag by themselves...

Mat,

That only works if the Edit button survives the duration of time for the post.

Gareth,

I hear ya!

Whether the "System" fails miserably or not depends on the presence of mind that the users have to their common purpose - i.e. solving problems. A marked solved tag is still and all a very useful resource.

I hold by my previous comments.

Has it been tried for this forum?
