I have the file
is there any certain place it should be? I opened the terminal, logged in under root, and typed sh WineCVS.sh and it said "WineCVS.sh: WineCVS.sh: cannot execute binary file"

I downloaded WineCVS-1.txt, and changed it to an sh... is that one of my problems?

You don't need to run it as root unless told to do so..
tyry under your account
try ./WineCVS.sh

What the permissions on the file?
ll
<---(Thats "L" "L" lowercase ) in the directory where the file is

chmod 775 WineCVS.sh

sh WineCVS.sh
