newbie lost icons on KDE desktop

For some reason my KDE desktops (on FC3) are now not showing any of the icons that should be displayed on the desktops (other than the trash cans and CD ROM). I know that both desktops are there because I can access them as root via a terminal and see all the files etc - I have a dual monitor setup.

I presume that when KDE is booting up, it is pointing to the wrong locations for the desktops?

If so, or if not, what can I do to correct the problem? For example, is there a config file I can edit that details the boot sequence including desktop locations?

TIA

Richard

Not sure this is your problem, but I know I had a little confusion first time through not realizing KDE was not my default desktop. I believe rebooting into the X login interface gave me an option to change that?

Thanks for the reply. Actually - KDE comes up ok and is my default desktop - I have found out how to switch between KDE and Gnome and it all works OK. The KDE desktop shows up OK - complete with logos etc and all the right settings for my two desktops, backgrounds, sceen savers etc etc - just all the icons I put there are missing - bizarre?
