What is "verbose mode"? I've never heard of that before.

So far my favorite Fedora tip is to edit /etc/inittab to start up in the classic console mode.

there is a line that by default reads:
id:5:initdefault:

Change that to read:
id:3:initdefault:

and you get the console boot and normal verbose boot screen scrolling up.

I am unsure if you are asking how to GET verbose or get rid of it, but that might be a good place to check either way.

Doesn't that happen when you have some sort of error? Or maybe when the system has detected new hardware? Pay attention to what it says when it's booting and then get back to us.
