httpd failed. The error was: Starting httpd: [FAILED]

Hi,

When I try to start apache on my clean install of FC4, i get this message.

httpd failed. The error was: Starting httpd: [FAILED]


Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this.

If there's an error in the httpd.conf file this will stop Apache from starting. Most error messages due to a malformed httpd.conf will give a line number to look at but some don't.

Also, try looking in Apache's error.log this may hold some clues about what's happening.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply , but I have no idea about what i am looking at in httpd.conf.

If i reinstall apache from scratch will this solve the problem, or if at all possible I post the contents of my httpd.conf file on here would someone be able to take a look at it for me.

P.s. is there anywhere that you can download a copy of a httpd.conf file that works to replace the old one with.

What version of apache are you using?
