dbus-daemon-1: Failed to start message bus: Failed to bind socket

Hi All,

I recently had a problem with SELinux due to up2date which is documented here:

http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showth...995#post294995

I have fixed the problem by removing the upgraded rpm and installing the previous version, however during the problems I had a hard disk error on /var and had to run fsck manually to fix the problems. Now I am getting an error on boot as follows:

[root@U4ea log]# grep "Failed to start message" boot.log
Jul 1 00:47:06 U4ea dbus-daemon-1: Failed to start message bus: Failed to bind socket "/var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket": Permission denied

I've had a look in /var/run/dbus and the path is totally empty - is this normal or is this the problem? If so should I reinstall the dbus rpm's, if not what's the problem??

Haydn.

If anyone with FC3 could tell me if their /var/run/dbus is empty that might be a good start.

OK - it's sorted, for future reference:

# rpm -q dbus
dbus-0.22-10.FC3.2

- download rpm as above and:

# rpm -e --nodeps dbus-0.22-10.FC3.2
# rpm -i dbus-0.22-10.FC3.2.i386.rpm

and it works again =)
